Mystical MermaidĀ

Good morning! I am so excited to be participating with Unity Stamp Co as a Growing In Unity girl this week. Each week there are two Growing in Unity Girls. Every day this week (Monday through Friday) I will post a card/project featuring a Unity Stamp/Set on my blog. Then at the end of the week, two winners will be chosen randomly from the people who have commented on my GIU blog posts. Those winners will receive a package in the mail from Unity… containing 25 random stamps.

So for my first project I made a mixed media canvas

I started with a 10 x 10 canvas and primed it with Gesso. Next I covered it using Tim Holtz distress stains in Spiced Marmalade, Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean. After that dried I stamped the whole surface using a bubbles stamp from Unity.  Next came the fun! I covered the bottom with a piece of fishing net and then added all kinds of elements, sea shells, metal findings, tags, string of pearls and much more. After glueing them all down I primed them with gesso and then sprayed with the distress stains. Once that was all dry I layered another piece of fishing net. I added a starfish that I got at Micheals and sprayed with a glimmer mist. While the adhesive on the starfish was drying I took my mermaid stamp from Unity and stamped her on Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth cardstock and then colored her with my copics and fussy cut her and glued her down to the center of the starfish. To finish I took a piece of chipboard and stained with the Spiced Marmalade and punched 2 holes at the top and added a string of pearls so that it could hang from the compass charm and then stamped the sentiment on a piece of cardstock that I distressed with the stains and fussy cut and attached to the sign, added more seashells and a ring with keys attached with a brad.  I had so much fun making this canvas. I am sending this off to a friend, who just adores mermaids, this week.

I will link below the Unity stamps I used on my canvas.

Be Strong

Good morning! Today I’m sharing my card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper. We have a fun Tic-Tac-Toe for you to play along with this week.

Here is the inspiration

First I wanted to tell you what inspired my card.  This past weekend my stepson  had a pretty bad accident when he hit gravel while riding down the mountain on his bike. His knee looked like a jumbled pile of hamburger meat and road rash all over his body.  We spent  several hours in the ER and many stitches and through it all he never once complained or cried. I was pretty impressed as were the nurses and doctors. He is healing well. And so was my inspiration for my card

I was recently able to purchase the very sought after Hero Arts June card kit. Thank you Rubina!! For the Tic-Tac-Toe I choose the middle vertical row with die cut, embossing and black. I started with a Summer Sun card base and then added a layer of Basic Black. For the main layer I took a piece of Whisper White and my SU inks and sponged the background. Next I die cut the sun and sponged with Yellow and Blue and glued down to the background. I them stamped the Giraffes with versamark and embossed with black powder.  To finish I die cut the tree with black cardstock and added using dimensionals and stamped the sentiment with Stazon.

Thank you so much for stopping by today

Until next time

The Light You Shine

Good morning! I wanted to share my card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper. This week our challenge is all about summer. Here is the inspiration

Here is what I created

I decided to break open my SU set High Tide and create with it. I found some inspiration from a card on Pinterest. My card base is Whisper White and the next layer is started with Whisper White and then sponged the sky using Pacific Point and the sand using Sahara Sand and stamped the sand with Baked Brown Sugar. For the next layer I die cut the sun rays using the SU Thinlet and sponged with YoYo Yellow and added on top of the sky and sand layer and stamped the birds in the upper right hand side. Next I die cut a smaller stitched rectangle and sponged with Pacific Point and then stamped the sentiment on the right and the birds on the left and added this on top of the sun rays. To finish I stamped the lighthouse using my Misti and inks, Real Red and Stazon black. After stamping I fussy cut the lighthouse and added to the layer with the sentiment using pop dots.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time

Create A LifeĀ

Good morning! What a beautiful day here in Northern Virginia. The temperature was mid 60’s when I woke up. I love mornings like this. I hope all the dads out there had a wonderful Father’s Day!

Today I am here to share my creation for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper.  We have a fun color challenge for you to play along with. Here is the inspiration

I decided to make a tag for the challenge

I started with a Manila file folder and used my TH tag dies to make a tag. After die cutting the tag I used SU Island Indigo and Colorbox Berry inks and sponged the background on front and back. I then stamped the lady using a set from Unity Stamp Co called She Never Says Never in momento luxe black and then clear embossed her. Next I took a piece of kraft cardstock and layered some lace and SU green ribbon and then attached it to the bottom of my tag. I stamped the sentiment from the Unity set on another piece of kraft and then fussy cut it and added using pop dots. To finish I used some silver metallic twine and tucked it in right behind the sentiment and added some more of the lace in the tag hole at the top.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Your A Classic

Good morning! Today I am sharing my card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper. The Inspiration for this week is Masculine

Here is my card

I used one of my older Stampin Up sets called Classic Pickups. My card base is basic black with the next layer in real red embossed with a diamond plate folder.  For the top layers I used basic black and cork distressed around the edges. I used a we r memory keepers corner chomper on all the corners. I stamped the truck and colored with my SU markers and then fussy cut and adhered to my card using pop dots. To finish I wrapped some twine around the top layers and then added my sentiment stamped and punched out with the designer label punch and then distressed the edges.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time

Stamp Ink Paper 100th challengeĀ

To celebrate we are going to be giving away some blog candy. All you need to do is enter a card into the challenge and for more entries to win you can comment on each of the design team members blog posts. This challenge is a Card Makers Choice and here is the inspiration

This is what I created

I love to make masculine cards so that’s what I choose to do. I used a technique called the Double Z Joy Fold card. My card base is Stampin Up Night of Navy and the first panels are Baked Brown Sugar.  The top panels are Whisper White  and I used the Hardwood background stamp and the set called Walk In The Wild.  The main panel is done with watercoloring.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time

Monster Birthday

Good morning! I don’t know about you but I am so enjoying this cooler weather we are having here in Northern Virginia. Those days won’t be around much longer!

Today I wanted to share my card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper.  This week our challenge is Kids Birthdays. How fun is that??

This is what I created

I started my card with a Baked Brown Sugar card base. On the right hand side I stamped the splatters using the Gorgeous Grunge set with chocolate chip ink. I then added a piece of green raffia about 1 1/2 inches from the left side. Next I took a piece of whisper white cardstock and cut it to a 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 panel and then stamped the 3 monsters using the Make A Monster stamp set. I colored them using my SU markers and then distressed the panel using TH Vintage Photo Ink. I added this panel just to the left of the green raffia and then added a piece of rainbow colored ribbon to the left side of the stamped panel. For the sentiment I punched out 1 cut using the Modern Label punch in Whisper White and then cut it in half and stamped happy on one piece and Birthday on the other. I inked the edges of both and then added them to my card sliding them just under the raffia and making sure the Birthday one was out further to give it that staggering look. I added enamel dots to each of them, one brown and one pink. To finish I took a piece of green grosgrain ribbon and placed below the birthday sentiment and using a hot glue gun created a ripple effect by making a loop and glueing in between each loop and then finished with a button embellishment.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time
