Looking Window

Good morning! I wanted to share a mixed media canvas I created for my sweet friend Pattie Oisten. I used the theme for our new challenge this week over at Stamp Ink Paper. Here is the inspiration for this weeks challenge

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge 143 Basket of Flowers

And this is the canvas I created

Looking Window

I do not own any stamps with a basket so I went with a window box full of flowers.

My friend Delores Miller has taken me under her wing and is teaching me all about mixed media. I have completely fell in love with it!

For this canvas we started out by covering it completely with chipboard block pieces and then covering it with heavy black gesso. While that was drying we die cut the Tim Holtz window, box and topper and coated them with heavy black gesso followed with a coat of distress teal paint. Once everything was dry we added the paper scene and Paper dolls behind the window and attached these to the center of the canvas. Next we distressed the canvas edges and the window with finnabair rust effect pastes. Next I added all the embellishments and highlighted them using Prima waxes. To give more of an aged look I sprayed the whole canvas with a coffee mixture.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time

My Heartfelt Wish

Good morning! It’s Tuesday and that means we have a new challenge for you over at Stamp Ink Paper. This week we have a fun Sketch for you to play along with.

Stamp Ink Paper Sketch Challenge #141

And here is what I created using the sketch

My Heartfelt Wish

I just recently got my first order of stamps from Lavinia and decided to get them inked up for this challenge.

I started with a Tempting Turquoise card base. Next I took a panel of Whisper white and created a Bokeh background. To do this I just randomly sponged Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive until the whole panel was created. Using a stencil, I created by punching different sized circles, I sponged white craft ink randomly over the panel. When the craft ink dries it becomes opaque so that you can see the shade of inks behind it. I cut a piece of the panel and placed on the left side of my card base and then took the remaining piece and backed it on a piece of Basic Black. Next I stamped the fairy, dust and pods using Versafine black ink and then added this panel to my card base. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine on the lower right. To finish I added 3 black enamel dots on the lower left.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time

True Spirit of Christmas

Good morning! If your on the east coast I hope you made it safely through the storms this past weekend with no damage. We had winds up to 60mph! Spring surely came in like a lion.

I wanted to share our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper . This week our challenge is Four Legged Friends

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #140 Four Legged Friends

Since I have been on a roll with making Christmas cards I choose a deer for my four legged friend.

Here is what I created

True Spirit of Christmas

I started with a Basic Black card base and then added a layer of Marina Mist. The next layer is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Stampin Up Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and sponged the lower embossed areas with Marina Mist ink. Next I die cut an oval in whisper white and masked off a 1 inch circle and sponged the sky with Marina Mist ink. I also sponged a few shadow areas on the bottom area. I removed the 1 inch mask to reveal the moon and stamped the deer, from the Stampin Up Christmas Deer set, using Stazon Black ink and then added some sequins in the deer’s rack. After this dried I die cut the next larger size oval in Basic Black and layered these pieces together and adhered to my card. Next I punched the snowflake (SU) in Whisper White and sponged with Marina Mist ink and applied a small dot of silver Stickles in the center then added to my card using dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin Up set Snow Swirled on Whisper White and then punched out with an SU oval punch and layered on top of a black oval and then adhered to my card. To finish I added the bow I made from Marina Mist seam binding.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Come join us this week, we would love to see what critter you choose for the four legged friends challenge!

Until next time

Good morning! Although the weather is turning towards spring I wanted to use our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper to get some Christmas cards made. This week our challenge is all about ribbon

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #139 Ribbon

Here is the card I created

Merry Christmas

This is such an easy card to make. I started with a Real Red card base. Next I die cut 2 layers from a nesting scalloped dot die set in Whisper White. I adhered the larger layer directly on the card base and then added the smaller layer using dimensionals. Next I die cut the pines from the Stampin Up Pretty Pines dies in Lucky Limeade and glued them down in the upper left corner and added a bow in Real Red. To finish I die cut the sentiment in Real Red and glued down in the center.

Dream

Good morning! Today I’m sharing my card for the new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper. This week we have a fun Tic Tac Toe Challenge for you to play along with.

I picked the right side vertical row with Word Die Cut, Watercolor and Embossed. Here is what I created

I dream of warmer summer days spent in the beautiful country settings just like this image. It reminds me of where I grew up in West Virginia. This is what inspired my card.

I started with a Real Red cardbase. Next I used a piece of Bristol watercolor cardstock and stamped the Covered Bridge scene, by Blue Knight Rubber Stamps, using Versafine black onyx ink. I watercolored the scene in using my Zig Clean Color brush markers. To finish I die cut the Dream sentiment twice in Whisper white cardstock and glued together for dimension and then heat embossed in gold and attached to the front. This was a super easy card to make. The scenery stamps from Blue Knight Rubber Stamps are so detailed that with just a little bit of coloring you have a beautiful creation in no time at all!

Oh Happy Day

Good morning! Today I’m sharing my card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper this week. About this time of year we are starting to get cabin fever from being inside so much due to the winter temperatures. So this week we created cards that remind us of the warmer weather that will come with the change of seasons. Here is the inspiration

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #136 Cabin Fever

And here is my card I created

Oh Happy Day

Who doesn’t love a beautiful day at the beach??

I started with a kraft card base and then added a layer of Tempting Turquoise. For the main layer I used a piece of water color paper and stamped the Beach Scene, from BlueKnightRubberStamps, with StaZon black ink. I watercolored the sand and water sections using distress inks and a water pen. After that dried I went back and stamped the sand castle and sand toys and watercolored them. Next I stamped the logs on a scrap piece and watercolored them and fussy cut after it was dried. I added those in the sand using dimensions. Now on to the sky. Using a cloud stencil by Inkylicious and distress inks I created the clouds for the sky. This was my first attempt at creating clouds and although I’m not unhappy with it I know I definitely need to practice this technique! To finish I stamped the sentiment in the clouds using a set from Green Grass Stamps.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Until next time

Happy Stamping 🙂

Live In The Moment

Good morning! How awesome is this warm weather we are getting now in the middle of winter?? I am so enjoying it!

Today I wanted to share my card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper. We have a fun color challenge for you to play along with

Stamp Ink Paper Color Challenge #134

Here is the card I created using these colors

Live In The Moment

I started with a Berry Burst card base and then added a layer of Basic Black. For the top panel I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock and Distress Oxides Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, and Wilted Violet. To create the background I stamped each color individually on my craft mat and spritzed with water and then laid my cardstock panel on it to pick up the color letting it dry in between each color. You can create suck amazing backgrounds with the Oxide inks! Next I used the stamp set Live In The Moment from Visible Image and stamped the sentiment in the lower left using Stazon black ink. To finish I stamped the dragonfly, from the same set, on a piece of scrap white paper with versamark and heat embossed in black and then colored it in with Berry Burst ink and a water brush pen. After that dried I fussy cut it and popped it on my panel using dimensionals. This was a super easy and fun card to make!

Adventure

Good morning! First I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! Do you have any crafty new year goals? My goals for this year is to make and send at least 10 birthday cards a month. I also want to make at least 5 Christmas cards a month so I will be finished and ready to mail them all by the beginning of December. So to start this year off I have made a masculine birthday card for our new challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper. Our first challenge for 2018 is all about embossing. Here is the inspiration

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #131 Emboss It!I love all the different ways you can use embossing but for my card today I chose an embossing folder. Here is what I created

Adventure

I started with a kraft card base and added a layer of Basic black. For the next layer I used a piece of kraft and embossed using the Tim Holtz Travel Signs folder and then distressed the embossed portions with Vintage Photo ink and added this layer on top of the black. Next I embossed a piece of silver foil paper with the folder and die cut the center with a circle framelit and adhered this on top of the kraft embossed layer lining up the words. I used black soot ink and distressed the foil layer. To finish my card I stamped the train image by Blue Knight Rubber Stamps, and colored in using my copics and then fussy cut and added to my card front using dimensionals.

You can find the train stamp here http://blueknightrubberstamps.com/antique-train/.

Let It Snow

Good morning! Are you ready for a new challenge? To kick of December we have a Let It Snow challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper.

Stamp Ink Paper Let It Snow Challenge #128

First I have some exciting news! I was contacted by Blue Knight Rubber Stamps and asked if I would like to design for them. I happily accepted!! For this challenge I used one of the stamps I received from them.

Let It Snow

I started with a Whisper White card base and then added a layer of Night of Navy followed with another layer of Whisper White that I wrapped a piece of Night of Navy Seam binding with. For the panels I stamped the Blue Knight Rubber Stamps tree image on a piece of Whisper White using Old Olive Ink. I then cut the image into 3 panels of equal size and backed each onto panels of Night of Navy. I attached the panels to my card front. Next I applied Glossy Accents to the tree baseline of each panel and then sprinkled iridescent ice. I then tapped off the excess and let this dry. When I tapped off the excess iridescent ice it left a light layer over the whole card front which ended up being a happy accident! As hard as I tried I could not get a picture that showed the shimmer but in person it’s really beautiful. To finish I stamped the sentiment on the lower right.

If you haven’t ever checked out Blue Knight Rubber Stamps head on over and see all the beautiful stamps they have!
